Warorot Market (Kad Luang)ตลาดวโรรส (กาดหลวง)
Chiang Mai's historic Chinese-Thai day market, anchor of the Riverside district

About Warorot Market (Kad Luang)
Warorot Market, locally known as Kad Luang ("the big market"), is the largest traditional day market in Chiang Mai and the historic heart of the city's Chinese-Thai merchant community. The market sprawls across several blocks between the Ping River and the Old City, with sections for fresh produce, dry goods, clothing, Thai snacks, traditional Lanna crafts, and flowers.
The market operates from approximately 5 AM to 5 PM daily and is the main source of wholesale and retail for most of Chiang Mai's restaurant and food-service industry. For expats, it's the most authentic place to buy fresh produce at local prices, Thai sweets, and traditional ingredients. It's also the cultural center of the city's Chinese community, with Chinese temples and family-run businesses going back 100+ years.
